Žensko pravo glasa
Žensko pravo glasa je izraz kojim se danas označava u svetu uglavnom opšteprihvaćeni koncept prema kojem muškarci i žene imaju jednako pravo glasa, odnosno da je opšte pravo glasa, a s njime i moderni koncept demokratije nezamisliv ukoliko ne uključuje jednakopravnost muškaraca i žena na biralištima. U istorijskom kontekstu taj izraz se odnosi na feministički pokret za žensko pravo glasa koji se pojavio u zapadnim industrijskim državama u 19. veku i kulminirao u 20. veku. Od tih pokreta su najpoznatije bile sufražetkinje, a današnji feministički istoričari ga smeštaju u tzv. feminizam prvog talasa. Danas je žensko pravo glasa prihvaćeno u gotovo svim državama sveta. Jedini izuzetak predstavljaju određene zemlje, gde se ženama ne daje pravo glasa iz verskih razloga.
Počev od sredine 19. veka, osim rada koji žene obavile na širokoj ekonomskoj i političkoj jednakosti i na socijalnim reformama, žene su nastojale da promene zakone o glasanju kako bi im omogućile da glasaju.[1] Nacionalne i međunarodne organizacije su osnovane da bi se koordinisali napori s tim ciljem, posebno Međunarodni savez za žensko pravo glasa (osnovan 1904. u Berlinu, Nemačka), kao i za jednaka građanska prava žena.[2]
Bilo je više slučajeva u poslednjim vekovima kada je ženama selektivno davano, a zatim oduzeto, biračko pravo. Prva provincija na svetu koja je dodelila i održavala biračko pravo bila su Ostrva Pitkern 1838. godine, a prva suverena država bila je Norveška 1913. godine, pošto je Kraljevina Havaji, koja je prvobitno imala opšte pravo glasa 1840. godine, ukinula ovo pravo 1852. godine. Sjedinjene Države su je potom pripojile 1898. U godinama nakon 1869. godine, brojne provincije koje su držale Britanska i Ruska imperija dodeljivale su žensko pravo glasa, a neke od njih su kasnije postale suverene države, poput Novog Zelanda, Australije, i Finske. Žene koje su posedovale imovinu stekle su pravo glasa na Ostrvu Men 1881. godine, a 1893. godine žene u tadašnjoj samoupravnoj[3] britanskoj koloniji Novi Zeland dobile su pravo glasa. U Australiji su žene koje nisu Aboridžinskog porekla progresivno stekle pravo glasa između 1894. i 1911. (federalno 1902).[4] Pre osamostaljenja, u ruskom Velikom vojvodstvu Finska žene su prve na svetu stekle rasno jednako pravo glasa, sa pravom glasa i kandidovanja 1906. godine.[5][6][7] Većina zapadnih sila proširila je glasačka prava na žene u međuratnom periodu, uključujući Kanadu (1917), Britaniju i Nemačku (1918), Austriju i Holandiju (1919) i Sjedinjene Države (1920). Značajni izuzeci u Evropi bili su Francuska, gde žene nisu mogle glasati do 1944. godine, Grčka (jednaka glasačka prava za žene tamo nisu postojala do 1952. godine, iako su od 1930. godine pismene žene mogle da glasaju na lokalnim izborima) i Švajcarska (gde su, od 1971. žene su mogle glasati na saveznom nivou, a između 1959. i 1990. žene su imale pravo glasa na nivou lokalnog kantona). Otkako je Saudijska Arabija ženama odobrila glasačka prava (2015), žene mogu glasati u svakoj zemlji koja ima izbore.[8]
Lesli Hjum tvrdi da je Prvi svetski rat promenio popularno raspoloženje:
Doprinos žena ratnim naporima osporavao je pojam fizičke i mentalne inferiornosti žena i otežavao je stanovište da su žene, po konstituciji i po temperamentu, nesposobne za glasanje. Ako su žene mogle da rade u fabrikama municije, izgledalo je i nezahvalno i nelogično uskratiti im mesto na glasačkom štandu. Ali glasanje je bilo mnogo više od puke nagrade za ratni rad; poenta je bila u tome što je učešće žena u ratu pomoglo da se odagnaju strahovi koji su okruživali ulazak žena u javnu arenu.[9]
Godine dobijanja prava glasa

[уреди | уреди извор]- Saudijska Arabija — Delimično pravo glasa. Od 2015. godine, žene mogu glasati, ali samo na lokalnom nivou.[11]
- Ujedinjeni Arapski Emirati — Ograničeno, ali će biti prošireno do 2010.[12]
- Vatikan — Nema prava glasa za žene. Jedini izbori su papske konklave, na kojima sudjeluju isključivo muški kardinali.
