Фамилија паукова-скакача (лат. Salticidae) obuhvata više od 500 opisanih rodova i oko 5.000 opisanih vrsta[2], što je čini najvećom familijom paukova, sa udelom od 13% u svim vrstama paukova.[3] Paukovi-skakači imaju veoma izoštreno čulo vida, jedno od najrazvijenih među svim zglavkarima, i koriste ga za udvaranje, lov i navigaciju kroz okolinu. Mada se većinom kreću nenametljivo i sporo, većina vrsta koja spada u ovu familiju može veoma spretno da skače, uglavnom prilikom lova, ili kada su izloženi nekoj iznenadnoj pretnji. Listolika pluća i traheje kod ovih vrsta su dobro razvijeni, i za disanje koriste paralelno oba organa (bimodalno disanje). Paukovi-skakači najlakše se razlikuju od ostalih paukova po specifičnom rasporedu očiju. Svi paukovi-skakači imaju četiri para očiju, od kojih je jedan par (centralni) mnogo veći od ostalih.
