Visoka tehnologija
Visoka tehnologija ili haj-tek (od engl. high technology), poznata i kao napredna tehnologija (napredna tehnologija) ili egzotehnologija,[1][2] jeste tehnologija koja je vrhunska tehnologija: tehnologija na najvećem stepenu razvoja.[3] Može se definisati ili kao najkompleksnija ili kao najnovija tehnologija na tržištu.[4] Suprotnost visokoj tehnologiji je niska tehnologija,[5] koja označava jednostavnu, često tradicionalnu ili mehaničku tehnologiju; na primer, logaritmar je niskotehnološki uređaj za izračunavanje.[6][7] Kada visoka tehnologija zastari, ona postaje niska tehnologija, na primer elektronika vakuumskih cevi.
Frazu je 1958. godine upotrebio Njujork tajms u priči u kojoj se zagovarala „atomska energija” za Evropu „... Zapadna Evropa, uz svoju gustu populaciju i visoku tehnologiju...”[8] Robert Mec koristio je termin u finansijskom stubcu 1969. godine: „Artur H. Kolins s Kolins radija kontroliše niz patenata visoke tehnologije na raznim poljima.”;[9] godine 1971, njegov članak je sadržavao skraćenu formu „haj-tek”.[10]
OECD pruža široko korišćenu klasifikaciju visokotehnoloških proizvodnih industrija.[11] Zasnovana je na intenzitetu istraživanja i razvojnih aktivnosti korišćenih u ovim industrijama u opsegu država OECD-a, a rezultat su četiri distinktne kategorije.
Startapi koji rade na visokim tehnologijama (ili razvijaju nove visoke tehnologije) ponekad se nazivaju dip tek (od engl. deep technology — dosl. „duboka tehnologija”).[12]
Visoka tehnologija, za razliku od haj-tač,[13][14] može se odnositi na iskustva samoposluživanja koja ne zahtevaju ljudsku interakciju.[15]
