Korensko povrće
Korensko povrće je podzemni deo biljke koji ljudi jedu kao hranu. Iako botanika razlikuje pravi koren od podzemnog stabla (poput lukovice, rizoma i krtole), na oba organa se primenjuje izraz korensko povrće kada su vrste u poljoprivrednoj i kulinarskoj upotrebi.[1] Mnoge vrste korenskog povrća mogu da se van vegetacijske sezone dobro održe po podrumima, u trajanju i do nekoliko meseci.
Kao korensko povrće se uglavnom koriste oni organi koji biljci služe kao organi za magacioniranje hrane, uvećani u svrhu skladištenja ugljenih hidrata. Korensko povrće se međusobno razlikuje u koncentraciji i odnosu između skroba, prostih šećera i drugih vrsta ugljenih hidrata. Od posebnog je ekonomskog značaja ono povrće sa velikom koncentracijom skroba, posebno u tropskim regionima, gde zasenjuje značajem žitarice širom velikog dela srednje i zapadne Afrike i Okeanije.
Pristalice đainizma ne jedu korensko povrće.
