Sarkozin/dimetilglicin N-metiltransferaza (EC 2.1.1.157, ApDMT, sarkozin-dimetilglicinska metiltransferaza, SDMT, sarkozin dimetilglicinska N-metiltransferaza, S-adenozil-L-metionin:N,N-dimetilglicin N-metiltransferaza) je enzim sa sistematskim imenom S-adenozil-L-metionin:sarkozin(or N,N-dimetilglicin) N-metiltransferaza (formira N,N-dimetilglicin(or betain)).[1][2][3] Ovaj enzim katalizuje sledeću hemijsku reakciju
- 2 S-adenozil-L-metionin + sarkozin 2 S-adenozil-L-homocistein + betain (sveukupna reakcija)
- (1a) S-adenozil-L-metionin + sarkozin S-adenozil-L-homocistein + N,N-dimetilglicin
- (1b) S-adenozil-L-metionin + N,N-dimetilglicin S-adenozil-L-homocistein + betain
Cijanobakterija Aphanocthece halophytica sintetiše betain iz glicina putem metilacije koja se odvija u tri koraka. Ovaj enzim posreduje drugi korak te sekvence.
