Histonska deacetilaza (EC 3.5.1.98, HDAC) je enzim sa sistematskim imenom histon amidohidrolaza.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] Ovaj enzim katalizuje sledeću hemijsku reakciju
- Hidroliza N6-acetil-lizinskog ostatka histona čime se formira deacetilisani histon
Ova klasa enzima uklanja acetil grupe sa N6-acetil-lizinskih ostataka na histonu.
